Watch “Operation Barclay Board Game Review #boardgames #review #wargames,” a board game review for Operation Barclay on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Boardgames Bourbon (Boardgames and Bourbon) on YouTube:
Operation Barclay is a two-player, 30-minute war/spy game where you are trying to figure out where the frontlines of a war will reside between the British and Germans. You do this through cardplay, betting on cardplay, and the luck of flipping tokens. The production is great, and the gameplay is solid. It combines Battle Line, Watergate, and Jack the Ripper, but, while Barclay is more varied, Im not sure it surpasses the immediacy and tension of what those other games achieve.
THE PROS: Great components. only 30 minutes.
THE OKs: Random token flipping, reading lots of card text each round.
THE CONS: Isolated game setup, rummaging through discarded cards, can sometimes sense a winner a round ahead of time.
