Description provided by KilroyWasHere on YouTube:
You’re on the island of Okinawa, and this is the last battle of World War II. The fighting is intense; the casualties are high. And now it’s up to you to lead your soldiers to victory using dice to activate and upgrade actions on your rondel as you capture objectives, defeat the Japanese army, and save the day!
Each game consists of four objectives that you must survive and capture before time runs out. On your turn, you'll spend dice to move to and activate different action cards to deal damage, find enemies, heal, etc. Knowing when to push forward into hostile territory and upgrading the right cards at the right time will turn the tide in this famous final battle.
P.S. After further investigation, it appears to use a "rondel" mechanism to activate abilities to defeat enemies and accomplish missions. I will do a playthrough or AAR as soon as I get it to the table.
P.P.S. William Raymond Carroll, a Georgian who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was assigned to Company K, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force. He was wounded in action on June 20, 1945, during the Battle of Okinawa, for which he received the Purple Heart. The 6th Marine Division played a significant role in the Pacific Theater, particularly during the Battle of Okinawa, one of the war's bloodiest conflicts. Company K, part of the 4th Marines, was actively engaged in intense combat operations during this period.
