In Dawn of Ulos, players take the role of gods watching over Ulos, bidding on which factions will control the land. During a game of Dawn of Ulos, players will be adding tiles to the map, expanding the controlled areas of different factions. But Dawn of Ulos is not about helping any one faction, it's about gaining favor with the factions that will be strongest at the end of the game. In Dawn of Ulos, when two areas become connected by tiles, a conflict breaks out and one faction will be removed from the board, with the other faction taking control of the entire conflicted area.
There are 10 factions in Dawn of Ulos, with plenty of familiar faces from across the Roll Player universe. You only play with 5 factions in each game, so there is a lot of variety between games of Dawn of Ulos if you choose to play with a different mix of factions. Each Faction in Dawn of Ulos has different powers that can be used to give you a strategic advantage. Most abilities will be used during the second half of your turn, instead of purchasing cards. However some abilities are meant to be used during a conflict and those can have a massive impact on either the outcome of the conflict or the impact the conflict has on your hand.
Dawn of Ulos has so many unique elements - it was truly surprising and really fun to play. We have had a great time with Dawn of Ulos and can't wait for other people to get this game to their table.
From the Publisher:
Dawn of Ulos is an economic tile-laying game for 1–5 players set in the world of Ulos (Roll Player and Cartographers).
Play as gods from across the planarverse who lend their power to develop territories and manipulate rival factions across the land. Players invest in various factions by acquiring cards and pit armies against each other to increase their favor with the world creator. Choose wisely when to exert your influence - as the subsequent rise and fall of each faction impacts the corresponding favor you will receive from Azema.
For untold eons, the mortal races lived in separate planes, unaware of other worlds beyond their own. But now the dragon god Azema forges a new world by opening rifts to other planes.
Armies flood through these rifts to fight over the new lands, drawing the attention of other gods. The gods – including you – gather to watch the conflict, place wagers on their favorite factions, and manipulate the rise and fall of mortals.
Ultimately, Azema will end these wars and establish peace, so you must hurry to expand your holdings in Ulos! Will you earn the most favor with the world creator and emerge as the most savvy deity in the planarverse?
