About Moana Nui, from BoardGameGeek:

In the distant past, intrepid explorers from the western islands of the great ocean venture into the vast unknown. They hope to find new lands for their families, somewhere to call home. But they are not alone. Others are racing to settle the islands they discover, islands scattered all over Moana Nui. In Moana Nui, you and your friends compete for control over a newly-discovered island group. Create the islands as you explore, revealing precious resources along the way. Establish buildings and defend your new community. As you settle new islands, will you develop a peaceful presence or expand to neighbouring shores? Be careful though, for as you compete for control, peace can turn to conflict. Moana Nui is a hexagonal tile-placing game where you explore a newly discovered archipelago in the vast Pacific Ocean (Moana Nui). You and your friends will take turns placing tiles and resolving actions. Explore the archipelago, deploy units and move them to defend your new territory, or mobilise your forces to defeat those who stand in your way. At the end of the game, controlling territory and buildings will score you victory points (VP). The player with the most points wins! -description from the designer
