Watch “Merchants of Andromeda: Reiner Knizia's Best Design?,” a board game review for Merchants of Andromeda from Gaming Caravan on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Gaming Caravan on YouTube:
Merchants of Andromeda is one of Allplay’s biggest and heaviest-feeling board games yet, but is it actually worth buying?
In this Before You Buy review, I break down Merchants of Andromeda from Reiner Knizia, including the player count, setup, card play, Dutch auction system, player interaction, replayability, and who I think this game is really for. This is a medium-light strategy game with multi-use cards, auctions, track bumping, several mini-game scoring areas, and a lot of indirect player interaction.
The biggest strength of Merchants of Andromeda is that it gives you constant interaction without feeling mean. You are competing for spaces, timing, auctions, tracks, and points, but it rarely feels like someone is directly attacking you.
If you like Allplay games but want something with more meat on the bones, Merchants of Andromeda might be one to check out.
