Watch “Maps of Misterra Review - We've Charted a Path to an Underrated Gem!,” a board game review for Maps of Misterra from Board Stupid on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Board Stupid on YouTube:
In this video we review Maps of Misterra from Sit Down Games! Maps of Misterra is a tile placement euro game where you and your friends take on the role of adventurers exploring the Mysterious island of Misterra!
You'll be scouring the islands depths trying to map it as accurately as possible, placing cards on your personal map, and then placing the matching tiles on the main board, representing getting a rough idea of the lay of the land before confirming exactly what terrain the isle of Misterra consists of.
However, your patrons at home have certain expectations of the island, so the map you actually draw might have little to no relation to what's actually there!
Maps of Misterra uses this tension between the two scoring mechanisms to give you interesting and challenging choices. Do you make your personal map as accurate as possible while manipulating the tiles, or do you just make your map meet your patrons expectations?
And if you can somehow do both... you're on to a winner!

About Maps of Misterra, from BoardGameGeek:
In Maps of Misterra, you play as explorers have discovered a mystical and unknown island. Your goal: Explore the island and complete your personal and hidden objectives while proposing a correct cartography of the island to earn maximum points.
To set up, place a central board representing the island on the table, and give each player a personal map they will use to transcribe their discoveries. Each turn, players choose two actions among these:
Move their explorer pawn on the central board.
Discover new terrains close to your explorer pawn, choosing from four randomly drawn tiles.
Claim control of areas.
A type of terrain on the central island must be explored twice before being validated. Thus, the unvalidated terrain types can change - "You thought you saw grass? You were mistaken." - and then your personal map will no longer match the central board.
You have to find the ideal balance between your personal objectives, and a correct cartography of the island.
