You do this correctly in the later Nature phases though. 34:10 Not a mistake, but you were wondering what the symbol at the bottom of the Venus Flytrap means. There is a mutation card that turns a plant into a carnivore, and that's what you need to be able to evolve it into the Venus Flytrap. Halfway through the game (at the end of the 4th round) you should choose which of your goal cards you want to keep, and which one to discard.
