Welcome to Fun with Boxes, Episode 224: Kapow! A Board Game designed by Larry Bogucki, Robert Dougherty, Douglas Hettrick and Carl Van Ostrand and published by Wise Wizard Games In this buildable dice game, players choose to be a superhero or villain and execute various superpowers using a customisable dice pool. Each hero or villain has unique abilities and starting trait dice. Players can gain additional blank “action dice” with removable faces to customise their characters. Behind a player screen, players roll dice and allocate them to attack, defence, and power-up abilities. The combination of dice pool growth, action die face customisation, and roll usage leads to a satisfying, strategic showdown. KAPOW! Volume 1 includes six supers: “Tough Nut”, “Elusivity”, and “Time Out” are heroes, while “Victor Kane”, “Coquette”, and “Spoiler Alert” are villains. This set can be combined with KAPOW! Volume 2 to mix characters or have up to four players in one game.
