I kind of hate this game

BigPasti

Watch “I kind of hate this game,” a board game review for Magical Athlete from BigPasti on BoardGameVideo.

Description provided by BigPasti on YouTube:

00:00 intro 01:20 MDA 5:10 the brutal reality 06:40 friendslop 08:38 magical athlete 12:03 disarming failure 13:18 the chain 14:30 an aesthetic definition 15:08 taxonomy of aesthetics 18:33 the shape of friendslop 19:34 a hole 21:33 the end Ya, here we go a new video. People love this game, some say it's peak board gaming. I have some mixed feelings though, so let's chat about it. Magical Athlete, 2026, is it the best board game? Is it peak? Do we even read these descriptions?

About Magical Athlete, from BoardGameGeek:

Magical Athlete is a racing game of pure chaos! Roll a die and move your racer that many spaces - but all the racers have wacky, game-breaking abilities. Race four times, then whoever has the most points wins! Before the racing begins, players will draft the four racers they will have in the game and choose before each race which to use. Races alternate between the "mild" side of the board and the "wild" side of the board. A race ends once two racers have crossed the finish line - with, generally, only these two players receiving points. -description from the publisher
