Description provided by Jenders Gaming on YouTube:
In 1958, Demitri Belyaev and Lyudmila Trut embarked on a groundbreaking experiment in the realm of domestication. Their focus? Foxes. From a sizable pool of these animals, they meticulously selected those exhibiting heightened curiosity towards humans and reduced aggression. Each generation saw the continuation of this selective process, as only the friendliest pups were chosen to perpetuate their lineage, mirroring the ancient path of domestication. Remarkably, the experiment yielded profound results. Despite the initial selection being based solely on friendliness, the foxes began manifesting numerous physical traits synonymous with domesticated animals: spots, floppy ears, and curly tails. As insights into communication emerged, the foxes contributed significantly to our comprehension of trait expression. And so, the experiment endures, its legacy enduring to this day.
Enter "The Fox Experiment," a captivating board game where you assume the role of a fox breeder. Each round presents you with the task of selecting a pair of fox parents, each possessing distinct traits. Acquiring corresponding trait dice, you roll them with fervor, endeavoring to arrange them into complete trait symbols. These symbols are then marked off on your pup card, earning you trait tokens proportional to your achievements. These tokens are pivotal for upgrading tracks on your personal player board.
As the round concludes, the previous generation of foxes is cleared, and the new pups are transferred to the kennel, poised to be selected as parents in the ensuing round. The game culminates after five rounds, with points accruing from various sources: pleasing patrons (end-of-game scoring bonuses), completing studies (personal player objectives), attaining the friendliest fox award, upgrading your personal player board, and acquiring extra tokens. Ultimately, victory is bestowed upon the player amassing the most points!
