How to play the card game - Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza
Heres a short explanation of the card game – Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza. Let’s start with the basics. The game from Albi is for 2 to 8 players ages 8 and up. The average game time is about 10 minutes with the objective of the game to be the first player to get ride of all of your cards.
Inside of the box you will find 64 player cards. Each card has different symbol – Taco, cat, goat cheese and pizza…..plus there are three special type cards – Gorilla, Beaver and Narwhal.
To set up, shuffle all of the cards together well. Once shuffled, deal the cards to each player. If you are playing with 2 to 5 players, each person gets only 12 cards. If you are playing with 6 to 8 players deal all of the cards out. Players should not look at their cards.
Players decide who will go first and the play continues clockwise around the board. On the first players turn, the will place a card in the center of the table and say the word “Taco” regardless of what card they put down. The next player will do the same, only they will say “cat.” The player says “Goat”, then cheese, then pizza. And then the pattern repeats.
Now IF….a player puts down a card that has the picture, that matches to what they have to say, then all players must put their hand down on the pile as fast as they can. The last player to put their hand down, must take all of the cards in the pile and place them in their hand. After the cards are picked up, play resumes with the next item in the pattern.
There are three other cards that require a special action. Let’s say for example, player has to say taco, but puts down the gorilla card, all players must beat their chest, and then put their hand down on the pile. The last player to put their hand down must take all of the cards in the pile. After the cards are picked up, play would then resume with CAT.
If a player plays the beaver card, then all players must knock twice on the table and put their hand on the pile.
If a player plays the narwhal, then all players must clap their hands above their head to make a horn, and then put their hand down on the pile.
If a player runs out of cards, play continues, and they are still in the game. The winner is determined by the first person to run out of cards AND put their hand down on the pile first after a match.
