About Legends of ShenZhou, from BoardGameGeek:
Legends of ShenZhou is an immersive and strategic board game inspired by the legendary Chinese text Shan Hai Jing(The Classic of Mountains and Seas). This ancient text, dating back over 2,000 years, is one of the most famous works in Chinese mythology, filled with vivid descriptions of mythical creatures, divine beings, and fantastical landscapes. It serves as both a mythological map and an encyclopedia of strange beasts, gods, and the unknown corners of the world.
Set in a fantastical world drawn directly from the Shan Hai Jing, players embark on an epic journey as iconic characters from Chinese mythology. They will explore the mysterious regions described in the ancient text, from towering mountains to vast seas, encountering the legendary creatures and divine figures that have fascinated readers for millennia.
In this game, players must navigate diverse and treacherous maps, using tactical movement to gather skills, earn wealth, and outmaneuver rivals. Along the way, they will encounter legendary creatures from Chinese lore, battle powerful adversaries, and face off against fellow players. Victory comes through strategic decision-making, where players must carefully purchase weapons, shields, mounts, and essential supplies to gain the upper hand in combat.
The ultimate goal of Legends of ShenZhou is to challenge and defeat the divine beasts that guard the path to greatness. Only the most cunning and resourceful players will overcome these mythical foes and claim their place in history as a true legend of Shenzhou.
