Watch “How do you play this as we clearly dont know! | Battle of Five Armies | Playthrough | In Person | #1,” a gameplay video on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Dan Thorpe on YouTube:
Something brand new this week with a game of The Battle of Five Armies. Its our second ever game but is our first of a set here. Though we aren't putting this game into rotation like SW:Rebellion or WotR. We are going for one game between each set of the other two. As in WotR, WotR, BoFA, SW:R, SW:R, BoFA, and repeat.
This game is long and a mess. Its our second ever. We don't know what each other can do. We don't know how to play the game. We don't know what works and what doesn't. We make mistakes with both rules and strategy. :)
Its also incredibly fiddly compared to the other two games we play. There is so much more dice rolling, and its all about card play. Each combat you have to build your hand based on the units in the fight, play those cards through the fight, and sometimes you might switch attacking armies mid combat to another army. So its a lot of "what do you have in this fight?", "what's your terrain superiority there?", "what's your leadership there?", and so on. It takes longer, and it made editing a nightmare. So this game is longer for us and as a result, its a longer video too.
But I hope you enjoy it!
In this video Chris and I play Battle of Five Armies. This video has me playing the Free Peoples vs Chris the Shadow.
As always, no rules and just straight into the action, though that doesn't mean we don't make the odd rule mistake. This is mostly a raw recording. I cut some bits but otherwise its the whole thing - IRL fails, thinking time, tactical stupidity, skilled dice rolls, questionable audio, and great fun play.
Would love to hear your thoughts, and hope you enjoy watching!
