Harmonies — Solo Playthrough with the Pulse Expansion

Description provided by One Last Hand on YouTube:

Welcome back to One Last Hand. Today we’re playing Harmonies with the new Pulse expansion, alongside one of the Spirit Animal modules. Pulse keeps the core game largely unchanged but adds a new set of animal cards with more complex habitat patterns. These can make use of symmetry as well as rotation when matching their required habitats, giving us some new placement puzzles without adding much extra rules overhead. If you haven’t played Harmonies before, I go through the game slowly as we play. We draw sets of landscape tokens, build mountains, trees, rivers, fields and buildings across our personal board, then try to create the habitats needed by our animal cards. For this game we also choose a Spirit Animal focused on trees, giving us another scoring objective to build around while working with several Pulse animals including robins and other new habitat patterns. As the board fills, the challenge becomes balancing the landscapes we want for normal scoring against the increasingly awkward shapes needed for our animals. We eventually finish with 113 points and a five-sun result.
