Made in a time when roll-and-move was still a go-to mechanism, Formula Dé (1991) added an amazing hook: connecting the type of die, and its range, to the gear your race car is in. What gear to be in as you approach that big corner can be a tense choice: Too low and it will take you time to speed up again; too high and you might overshoot and spin out! You still have to be okay with the randomness, but if you add to the formula a plethora of famous racetracks from around the world, FD becomes an amazing experience for the F1 fan — especially if you play a whole season!
