About Flames of Orion, from BoardGameGeek:

Flames of Orion is a dark future miniatures war game where players pilot giant mechanized combat machines, set in the Orion system. Renegades, outlaws, and mercenaries litter the sector. Years have passed, and the planets in this sector sit heavy with shadows and foreboding. Players will control a Combat Unit consisting of 4 mechs and battle over the remnants of fading planets. Systems overheating, missiles flying and engines going critical. Fast paced, deadly and a core system designed for campaign play. Grab your set of favorite battle mechs, or make your own in this model agnostic game. Flames of Orion is a turn-based skirmish game with alternating activation. The games main focus is the customization of your units, deadly combat and the tension building HEAT system. The HEAT system is designed to put you on the edge of your seat as you make your way across the battlefield. As you perform actions, you gain HEAT. Every action pushing you closer to oblivion. If you aren't careful you can overheat, causing complete mayhem across the board. When you reach your models HEAT threshold, you have a chance of exploding, leaving a cascade of destruction in your wake. At the end of every round, you have a chance to gain additional HEAT. Due to the state of your ramshackle machines & the stress of the situation. You must balance your turn between action and inaction, safety or harms way. Everything dancing around the edge of overheating and leaving a smoking crater. WHAT YOU NEED All you need to play a game of Flames of Orion are the following; 4 models per player. A handful of 6-sided dice. A measuring device. A 2x2' or bigger play area. The rules. -description from the publisher
