Field Commander: Napoleon (DVG) - AAR, Gameplay, Intro to Field Commander Series

KilroyWasHere

Watch “Field Commander: Napoleon (DVG) - AAR, Gameplay, Intro to Field Commander Series,” a gameplay video for Field Commander: Napoleon on BoardGameVideo.

Description provided by KilroyWasHere on YouTube:

Thought I would take a quick* look at Field Commander: Napoleon with an after action report (AAR) and brief** and concise*** discussion of game play. By all means, do not use this summary**** to play the game, as there are much better (and complete) playthroughs online (also, you could use the novel approach of actually reading the rules). In addition to my self-proclaimed Napoleonic Week, the timing of this AAR coincides with the announcement of the next Field Commander game -- Field Commander: Robert E. Lee, which I expect will draw influences from Field Commander: Napoleon. *Too late. **Really too late. ***Yeah, about that . . . ****Or ramblings . . .

About Field Commander: Napoleon, from BoardGameGeek:

Welcome to Field Commander: Napoleon, the third in our series of Field Commander games. The goal in designing this game system was to make the careers of some of history's great commanders accessible in an easy to learn, fast playing game format. We decided on solitaire, because it had the proper feel. Commanders have staff and advisors, but in the end, they alone make the hard decisions that affect lives, change the course of campaigns, and decide the fate of nations. In this game, you make all the decisions needed to command your Forces. The game rules, charts, and die rolls dictate the actions of the opposing forces.
