Watch “Emerge: Preview (GAMA Expo 2023),” a board game interview for Emerge from David Niecikowski, PhD on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by David Niecikowski, PhD on YouTube:
Emerge thematically you have these volcanoes that are underneath the ocean and erupting and as a result new islands are emerging from that so we're all going to be playing as researchers doing our best to discover these different islands and also the different budding ecosystems that are on there so this is a dice placement game every player is going to roll their dice place them on their personal player board here and then based on what you really can go ahead and act do different actions such as getting these islands out here or getting different critters out here now as you'll notice you have these different modifier tiles which you'll gain throughout the game and you can use these to sort of change your player board and for example as a result now both of your threes and fives will count towards getting your Turtles out there so at the end of the game every player is going to score points for each of their Islands based on the number of meeples that are on top of it multiplied by the level that their island.

About Emerge, from BoardGameGeek:
New islands have emerged from the ocean, and as scientists, you must research the new, developing ecosystems present there. Watch the islands on the board grow in three dimensions as you learn more about them, and add colorful plants and animals to each island as you explore their ecosystems.
Each round in Emerge, earn points by rolling your dice and using them to collect research and make discoveries. All players start with the same research board, but throughout the game you can modify your own board and change what you're researching. After eight rounds, score points based on how flourished and biodiverse your islands are as well as varying research objectives.
