Crypt X from Inside the Box - What's Inside?!

One of the very first escape-room projects I backed on Kickstarter was Crypt X, an Egyptian-themed game from Inside the Box which promised to be packed with puzzle-filled cards and various interesting objects. I backed the game back in 2019, with delivery planned for summer 2020, but it never arrived. Then, early in 2023, it appeared for sale in retail here in the UK (and elsewhere too, I believe) without ever having been delivered to any of its original Kickstarter backers - almost 2,000 of them. Around the same time, the company that had marketed it went into administration and closed down and that looked like it was it in terms of delivery of the Kickstarter copies - until recently, that is, when it seems a new company may successfully receive the stock and enable it to be sent on to original backers, albeit at further cost. In any case, I bought one of the retail copies and in this video I open the box and take a look at what the finished product contains. And then - with suitable warning in case you don't want to be spoiled - I also try out the first puzzle to see if the accompanying app (only available for Android at the time of recording) works. You can't check any of your answers without the app, so essentially you can't play it without it. I don't have an Android device, so I've used the free BlueStacks app on Windows instead (which lets you run Android software). It's great to be looking at another Kickstarter-derived game (of which I have many yet to try!) in this series of videos in which I - and usually also my colleague Laura - solve or try out a wide range of escape-room games, including Exit the Game, Unlock, Escape Room The Game and others.
