Cloudspire Shada Faction Expansion Review | Terrain Strategy & Worth It?

Description provided by Tabletop Gaming Guild on YouTube:

In this video, I review the Shada Faction Expansion for Cloudspire, the deep strategy tower-defense board game from Chip Theory Games. I break down the new faction mechanics, gameplay impact, replayability, and overall value, and share whether this expansion is worth adding to your collection. The Shada faction introduces a unique terrain-based playstyle, where units gain special abilities depending on the terrain they occupy and can move in ways other factions cannot. This forces players to rethink map positioning and strategy in every game. One of the most interesting additions is the elemental combination system, where minions (stone, wind, fire, water) can merge into powerful new forms like steam and dust, creating flexible and evolving strategies mid-game. Like the base game, this expansion leans into high asymmetry and deep tactical decision-making, which is one of Cloudspire’s biggest strengths—but also means a steep learning curve and heavier rules overhead for new players. If you enjoy complex strategy games, asymmetric factions, or expanding your Cloudspire experience, this review will help you decide if the Shada Faction Expansion is right for you. 👍 Like the video, 🔔 subscribe for more board game reviews, expansions, and tabletop content, and comment if you’d like a playthrough or faction comparison next!
