Catan New Energies Review | A Classic Grows Up

Description provided by Ronald aka The BoardGameBruh on YouTube:

I finally got Catan New Energies to the table, and this one immediately lets you know it’s not just classic Catan with a fresh coat of paint. The familiar trading and tension are still here, but the energy choices add a layer that makes every decision feel heavier. It feels more thoughtful, more modern, and way more table-talk driven than I expected. You’re not just racing for points; you’re reacting to the board, the players, and the consequences of earlier moves. I liked how the game stayed competitive without turning mean or exhausting. At the same time, it asks a little more patience from the table, especially if everyone’s used to fast, snappy Catan sessions. Once the strategies start clicking, the game opens up in a really satisfying way. This isn’t trying to replace classic Catan; it’s clearly doing its own thing. If you enjoy interactive games where choices matter beyond the next turn, this one hits a sweet spot. Big respect to @catancommunity for taking a risk and giving longtime fans something new to chew on. Thank you also to @AsmodeeGamesUSA
