Castles of Burgundy (Accidental Big Money!)

Description provided by Ready Steady Play on YouTube:

Mike and Michael are going on a trip to burgundy! It's going to be a pleasant time building up the landscape and they won't be at all mad at each other about anything. RULES ERRORs: Of course we endeavour to get the rules 100% correct, but some times we make mistakes and unfortunately this is one of those times; 1. THE ECONOMY (Big mistake!) I issued money for the Mine tiles every round instead of every phase. This added a lot of money to the game when there should have been been much less. This is obviously why we ran out of coins during the stream. This gave us much greater access to the Black Tiles and Vineyard Tiles. Even with the lavish economy the game still fundamentally felt like the version with the correct rules. The game is still great and I stand by everything I said in the video about it. 2. BONUS TILES (Small Mistake) The bonus point tiles are only issued when you completely cover a type of area (colour) in your duchy; not when you complete your first area of that type. 3. BOARDER POSTS (Small Mistake and intriguing game edition iterative change) When you connect two boarder posts you receive the current phase's bonus VP value (i.e. 10VP in Phase A). As there are three boarder posts you can make up to three connections. You only collect the bonus point tile when you connect all three of your boarder posts. Interesting note: The special Edition uses the same rules for Boarder Posts as the 2019 edition, which differs from the original expansion "Monastery Boards", which read: - As soon as a player creates a direct, straight connection between two monasteries with 5 connecting tiles on [their] game board, [they earn] 5 victory points. - The first player to complete all three connections between [their] monasteries wins an additional bonus of 5 - 7 victory points (for a 2 - 4 player game). The second player to complete all three connections wins 2 - 4 victory points. So this expansion has been made easier to achieve and potentially worth more points in the 2019 edition and Special Edition. 4. SHIELDS (Small mistake, but only because of my "huge economy" big mistake!); you must pay one silver upkeep for each shield you have during the end of the phase before receiving the income from your mines (we never did this). (Small mistake) I read the rules for tile 12 instead of tile 5 when I took my shield (1:17:31). I must have looked at the VP value instead of the reference number, so we played the incorrect rules for that tile for the whole game. Final note on shields; they must be placed on a Castle Tile/Miniature (i.e. not an empty Castle space). (Now just an observation on the Trade Routes) I thought the language on the Trade Routes was reasonably clear, but when I went to confirm we played it correctly I could see that this expansion has caused a lot of confusion in its various iterations; many of the photos from the original release on BGG show it being played incorrectly and the original rules text is awfully unclear (at least in English), so at least we got that right! Original Trade Route Rules: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/159468/regles-rules-regeln Sorry for all the mistakes! Hope you can enjoy the stream in any case (it still felt like a really tense and close game; and authentic to how I remember the game feeling when I played it "back in the day").
