Board Game Review - Patriot (Grand Gamers Guild) - First Play Thoughts

Description provided by The Board & Barrel on YouTube:

Patriot is an exceedingly dense social deduction game for 1 to 6 players in which the president of the fictional land of Karmonia attempts to survive assassination attempts from members of his cabinet by sending giant mech police officers to murder rioters. Questionable theme aside, the world they've built for this game is interesting, but the 1-2 player campaign we've yet to try really seems like a better use of the complex mechanics they've blended together. As a 3-6 player social deduction game, there are a few too many moving pieces to really deduce much of anything aside from "the good guys are probably gonna lose." Of course when the good guys are killing civilians, are they really all that good? A little closer to Dead of Winter than Secret Hitler, with a premise that emphasizes social deduction while not giving the players much room to think about that focus. Guests this week are Deva Marie Gregory, Danica Sweet, and Burnie Baker.
