What is this game... and why is it still regarded by so many as one of the greatest solo wargames ever designed?
Originally published by Victory Games in 1983, Ambush! puts you in command of a US Army squad fighting through Normandy after D-Day. Every mission is packed with uncertainty. You won't know where the enemy is hiding, when they'll strike, or whether your decisions will bring the squad home safely.
In this first episode, I unbox the game, take a look at the components, explain how the system works, and share my first impressions before beginning the campaign.
I'm completely new to Ambush!, so this won't be a perfect playthrough. We'll learn the game together, discover its strengths (and perhaps its weaknesses), and see whether this classic still deserves its legendary reputation over forty years after its release.
