Watch “Alien Petshop : Cute pets +RNG = fun!,” a gameplay video for Alien Petshop from Ogre Crossing Games on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Ogre Crossing Games on YouTube:
This gameplay video shows how rolling all 4's all game compares with rolling hazards (zero's effectively) all game. The chance of rolling all 4's on 19 dice is: (1 in 609,359,222,538,240).
The chance of rolling all 0's (hazards) on 13 rolls is: 1 in 13,060,686,848.
The result was:
a 54 to 39 point end game score. (If I correct for a bad decision I made that cost me 1 credit, I should have had 40).
The 1 in 609 trillion good luck won, but it felt fairly close, and I personally enjoyed the challenge. It's a scenario that was tested many times when the game was developed. I once had such bad luck that I had 5 workers eaten by hazardous pets. Yep. I lost, but it was a fun story we all enjoyed unfold.
The takeaway is that in a more statistically likely game, a little bad luck vs a little better luck does not swing the game. You can still win either way and have fun managing these mildly dangerous critters!
Thanks for watching!
