Frost 1831

Frost 1831

2026

2 - 5 players
240 - 300 min

From BoardGameGeek

In 1831, a catastrophic snowstorm has brought civilization to its knees. New London stands as a fragile refuge, where ambitious Barons see an opportunity to rebuild and make their fortunes. Across the frozen landscape, railways promise connection, prosperity and power. Frost 1831 is an 18xx game for 2 to 5 players that brings railway rivalry and stock market speculation into a world of political intrigue. Invest in corporations, develop profitable routes and compete for control of the enterprises shaping New London. The game expands the 18xx formula with political factions that have their own shares, income and leadership, creating a second arena for investment and control. Railway development generates influence that shifts the balance of government. Through parliamentary voting, faction leaders can change the rules governing railway construction, corporate ownership and train fleets. Political ties also provide access to financial favors, while government upheavals can strengthen your corporations or expose them to serious losses. Your investments shape political power, and political power reshapes your investments. As railway technology advances, a devastating blizzard threatens vulnerable networks. Every expansion must balance immediate profit with the challenges ahead. Timing, foresight and calculated risks will determine whose investments endure. When the struggle for New London ends, the Baron with the greatest personal fortune wins. -description from the designer
