You wake up and cannot believe your eyes! Outside, sticking up from your swimming pool... is a massive, authentic Soviet SUBMARINE! You claim it's your surrealist artwork brought to life with... magic paint?! Your crew of friends, in your little, gray, conservative Polish village, doesn't buy it, but the national Army, tipped about someone harboring foreign military technology, is already on their way to punish the perpetrators. You're all implicated but with some creative ingenuity and cooperation, you might just pull off the impossible! Can you and your crew save your surrealist art machine before it's discovered? Based on an original movie screenplay, "Things which do not Belong" is a cooperative engine builder with asymmetric play and a rich story world! --- HOW IT PLAYS The game plays over a series of rounds, each consisting of two recurring phases: A Players' Phase consisting of player turns: *** Collectively: We move our Characters around the Village resolving Events (cards) and avoiding potentially dangerous Army encounters, all in an effort to create an escape passage for our Submarine. *** Individually: We manage our Imagination and Motivation (key resources) while avoiding debilitating Inner Wars (penalty cards). Along the way, we may befriend and inspire Villagers to gain their unique abilities as well as complete extravagant, surrealist "Art Machines" which grant powerful, game-changing effects. An Army Phase: The Army expands its presence in our Village, issues potentially painful Directives, all while players regroup. WIN & LOSS We immediately lose the game in one of two possible ways: If the Army ever discovers our Submarine, or If all players get overwhelmed with too many Inner Wars. We win the game by completing a safe passage tunnel for our Submarine and launching it to safety!
