Tasting History: The Board Game

Tasting History: The Board Game

From BoardGameGeek

Tasting History: The Board Game is a competitive worker-placement game inspired by Max Miller's hit YouTube series Tasting History. Players take on the role of chefs traveling through history, gathering ingredients, gaining culinary knowledge, and recreating recipes from the past. The game includes three distinct historical settings: Ancient Rome, Medieval Europe, and the American Frontier, each with its own map, locations, events, and culinary developments. On their turn, players send their chefs to locations throughout the chosen era to collect ingredients and Knowledge. Knowledge can be used to gain Insights, unlock Culinary Tricks, and improve recipes, while completing historical dishes earns Victory Points. Throughout the game, Events inspired by both major historical moments and everyday life alter the board, while Culinary Advancements change the opportunities available as the era develops. Each setting offers a different historical backdrop and its own strategic challenges, but the goal remains the same: make the most impressive dishes, outcook your rivals, and finish the game with the most Victory Points. Along the way, players will encounter Feasts, historical Events, and unique abilities. Tasting History: The Board Game combines approachable worker placement with historical storytelling, competitive strategy, and the food history that made the hit YouTube series so popular.
