COVID The Board Game

A fast-paced (except when it's not) race through the sequence of events of how the pandemic rolled out in NZ. Suitable for ages 5-105 years, it's a roll and move snakes ‘n' ladders style game but with added cards. It is non-political! As you land on the bubbles, you follow the instructions. When asked to pick a card, you then might have an action to do, such as your favourite internet dance for 30 seconds, or laugh for 30 seconds, because laughter is the best medicine! The game is mostly luck, but there is a little strategy involved. Some of the cards have special power attached and you can keep these until you choose to wield that power. The toilet-roll card is collected for trade, or to give you a massive jump ahead. There are three ways to end, depending on how short or long a game you want. Players have said it's a real conversation starter and others that it has helped reframe that experience for them. Teachers have said it should be in schools, for social history. Everyone says it's fun and it is a hit with kids of all ages. 5% of profits from sales donated to research into ME/CFS/Long COVID.
