Artefacts expands Bretwalda with a mythic dimension. Suits of armour, helmets, swords, and talismans are not mere decorations – they can change the course of history. Each Artefact unlocks unique abilities, giving your Ruler an edge in the fierce contest for the title of Bretwalda. This expansion is not only about adding new strategies, but also about weaving epic storytelling into every decision you make on the battlefield. Artefacts is a modular expansion for Bretwalda, designed for 1–4 players. It introduces 20 unique Artefact cards and their matching markers, inspired by Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, and Norse myths. Each Artefact grants the controlling Ruler special abilities or bonuses, dramatically shifting the balance of power on the board – from Beowulf's Armour, which strengthens your leader, to Raedwald's Helmet, a priceless treasure worth a precious Dalc. Artefacts can be gained in multiple ways: discovered during play, purchased, or seized as rewards for defeating opponents. Once acquired, they remain with the Ruler until their death – when they may pass into the hands of another. New Season cards further enrich the game with additional events, ensuring that no two campaigns for the throne of Britain play out the same way.
