Word Dungeon is a solo tactical puzzle game where you create words by connecting adjacent letters on a grid to navigate through a dungeon layout. The dungeon contains monsters, treasures, and an exit, all represented by letters on the grid that you must incorporate into your words. During play, you move through the dungeon by forming words from orthogonally adjacent letters. When you encounter a monster, you engage in combat by creating words that include the monster's letter, with longer words dealing more damage. Treasures provide points when collected, and occasional magic items offer single use abilities to help with difficult encounters. The game ends when you reach the exit. Your final score is calculated from points earned through defeating monsters, collecting treasures. Each dungeon presents a randomised puzzle with optimal solutions to discover through careful word placement and tactical decision making. -description from the designer
