Welcome to 11th century Iberia! In this historical game, take on the role of a king or an emir and compete to build the greatest kingdom on the peninsula through territory expansion, constructing buildings and wonders, and by attracting a diverse court. As you expand and grow your kingdom, the population faiths of your kingdom will change depending on the lands you conquer, the buildings you build, and the courtiers you play. Be sure to maintain balance between the faiths of your kingdom and your ruler's political stance or suffer the consequences through lost income or victory points. To play Iberia, a player's turn takes place over four steps. Step 1, players collect maravedi coins (income). Step 2, players use their maravedi to take actions. Some of these actions include, constructing buildings and wonders, training soldiers, building castles, reforming politics, or upgrading mobility. During this step players may also play, and gain the benefits of, any courtier cards they have acquired. Step 3, players move their army to consolidate or take new lands. Step 4, if a player moves into region they do not occupy, they immediately enter battle and move to subdue the region. If the player wins and subdues the population, they gain income, and their populations rise on their kingdom board. Once all four steps are complete, play passes to the next player. Game play continues over a series of turns until on player raises the required number of flags or a player acquires two wonders. -description from the designer
