The sky darkens, the ground begins to shake; the great Mount Vesuvius pours smoke, rock, and fire into the sky. It is 79 CE, and this is Pompeii's last day. As pillars and roof tiles fall and shatter to the ground at your feet, you must navigate the chaos to ensure you make it out. In Escape From Pompeii, players collect resources from around the board to give as offerings to the gods. Earn their favor (victory tokens) to win, and, before the last tile is turned, flee through one of the city gates to survive. On an increasingly obstructed board, you must make the most important decision of all: when to run. The game ends when the final volcano tile is laid.
