Mare Istra

From BoardGameGeek

The commercial fishing ship Mare Istra disappeared near the coast of Iceland in 1926. It was one of the biggest Croatian ships made in Kraljevice, heading toward Iceland on it's 18th voyage. It had experienced crew of 20, with an old, sturdy captain Mate Horvat. Somewhere near the volcanic island of Surtsey they were swept by the storm and got stranded on the uncharted reef. Their messages for help were received by the nearby 'Columbia', but due to the heavy storm they couldn't reach them until 24 h later. By that time Mare Istra sunk, never to be found again. Their last radio message was: 'They are not human...' Mare Istra is a cooperative horror survival game for up to 4 players. You, as players, will re-live the last 24 hours of the cursed ship, attacked by the Deep Ones and other aquatic nightmares. To survive you will have to radio for help and fire the signal flare, as instructed on the Crisis card. Besides that there will be few random crisis that needs to be averted to successfully finish the game. Players use actions during their activation phase to move through rooms and fight monsters. They start with one crisis card in play that they have to resolve before time runs out (by the 24-th turn). In the meantime, monsters are spawned on the game board (representing decks of a ship) and moved toward players, trying to capture or kill them. WINNING Players win if they finish the first Crisis (They are not Human) and abandon ship before it is destroyed by some other crisis. If they can't abandon ship because both Life Boats are destroyed, they must finish any crisis that will cause the destruction of the ship and must survive till the end of turn 24. SAFE ROOM can be used for this, as they can hide there and wait it out (if the ship is not in danger), as long as they finished the main crisis. If you are completely safe in the SAFE ROOM, you may end the game earlier, as monsters can not enter that room.
