From BoardGameGeek

Trifle is based on the classic Italian card game, Briscola. You can play it competitively with older children or as a breezy pastime with other adults. It is a may-follow trick-taker. Which means, you can always play whichever card you want. No restrictions. Cards are worth the number printed on them (if a card doesn't have a number, it is worth zero). Your goal is to capture the most card points. Catch more than 30 and you win a game. Win three games to win a match. -description from the designer
