The Festival is the first expansion to the game King of the Valley. This game introduces several commoners wandering around the valley seeking entertainment, a few new specialists and several interesting festivities (locations) where the players can gain gold, actions or reputation. Players can pick up commoners for free, during their quest to form Kingdoms and to claim subjects for their goals. As soon as they pick up the commoners, they must send them to one of the five active locations to generate income, reputation or to activate an executioner or a fortune teller. Still excellent for 2 players, but now there is more fun (flesh and bones) to the game for 3 & 4 players. Due to the mini-games created by the workerplacement system with the commoners, there will be much more dilemmas. Players have to decide if they send a commoner to drink beer in the Bierstube to gain gold, or contribute to culture by sending them to the theatre. They can also be sent to the Jousting Field, influence the outcome and the King has more knowledge about the income. He can bet on the knight he expects to be the winner of the tournament. Plenty to choose from, but the interaction between the players is strong, since they influence the revenues for each other. The specialists of the basic game, King of the Valley, have more up their sleeves, since the Priest can also brew and serve beer. The Wizard is able to use his magic to make the show at the theatre truly magnificent. And the Tax Collectors get a chance to compete with each other in the Treasury Room. A place where kings can show in a "majority-game" to get additional taxes. The game play is extended with 15 minutes on average, for all number of players. 2 players: 45 minutes, 3&4: 60 minutes. -description from the publisher
