Set in Bahia, Brazil - circa 1808. Will you play it safe or partake heavily in political bribery to advance your position? In this map, participating in the auction is not a right, it's a costly privilege. In 1807, Napoleon invaded the Iberian peninsula, where the local military was no match for the French army. On November 29th, 1807, Queen Mary the Mad, prince John VI, and the whole Portuguese crown fled to Brazil and continued their rule remotely. Their decision to move the Brazilian capital from Bahia to Rio de Janeiro created conflicting alliances among the families in Bahia. Should they be loyal to the crown and the new capital of Rio de Janeiro, or be allied to the former capital of Bahia when exporting their goods? In this time of political upheaval, corruption was rampant in the land of Bahia. To be successful, one must spend political influence wisely and cash in bribes at the opportune time...
