Description
We ignored the darkness as long as we could. “It ebbs and flows,” we told ourselves. Then, multiple attacks within a single month. Those on the edge of Farhome report encroaching darkness. We could see it from home. The sky growing dark in the south and east. Farhome's light has diminished severely. Something must be done. We must discover the source of this great darkness and put a stop to it, before we are all destroyed or corrupted. The problem is we've been a peaceful society for so long that we have no heroes. Luminaries is the word we used to use. We're fresh out. But the darkness grows. We must send the best we have. Which means we must send the most virtuous among us. Virtue is what determines an individual's inherent light source. We send our new Luminary and pray. We'll know the outcome soon enough, by watching the sky. In Radiance, the player takes the role of a Luminary and embarks on an epic quest to defeat the Shade and protect the last of the Bright Cities. Upgrade your deck, learn new skills, master the elements, and discover explosive combos as you explore and fight your way through a tense and perilous adventure. Radiance is a solo, puzzly adventure card game designed to create the feeling of an epic and sprawling overland adventure, but with the convenience of being stored in a small box. Players will interact with some familiar mechanisms like deckbuilding, skill trees, and exploration. In addition to some mechanical twists on the genre, including: Deck upgrading, which has you flipping existing cards in addition to adding new ones. Geographic progression but on an abstracted map. A deck of 36 location cards - each with coordinates listing their physical location - but the deck is shuffled and you must forge a different path to your destination each game. The slightest bit of action programming: Your Attack card this turn becomes your Explore card next turn. Economy of card play - you typically play only 3 cards per turn, each assigned to distinct roles. -description from the publisher
